Amanda and I made it safely to Maui after about ten and half hours in total in the air. I don’t mind the time difference here, as it means I get to watch the sunrise during my early morning run. I could have sworn that Lance Armstrong rode by me this morning. We did the respectful nod in passing, and then I did a triple take. However, the next cyclist who passed me also looked a lot like Lance Armstrong…I was really dehydrated.

Tomorrow night we perform at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, and then on Saturday we grab a flight to Oahu to play the Sufer Bar at the Turtle Bay Resort. Our final show will be in Kauai at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center. We may or may not perform all our songs on ukulele.

We’ve only been on the island a few days, but I think my breathing has already slowed down to match the sound of the waves. Amanda is currenly doing yoga by the beach, and we’re planning on meeting up for morning Mai Tais. I think it’s 3 o’clock in Toronto.

Snowshoeing in Prince George, BC

1. First time snowshoeing through the forest in Prince George.
Highlight: the mid-trek break overlooking a frozen lake while enjoying a mocha-coffee with Baileys!

-45°C in Regina SK

2. First time on Salt Spring Island.
Highlight: watching the sun rise over the misty trees on our early morning ferry ride.

3. First headlining show in Regina!
Highlight: walking in -30 weather (-45 with the wind chill) to O’Hanlon’s Pub which, sadly, has had their 5ft 10 statue “Zolt Tranlon” stolen for the second time. He is described as “a statue”, “quite the ladies’ man” and an “excellent dancer”.

“Fortress” featured in Flashpoint Series Finale

Dala’s song “Fortress”, from the 2006 album “This Moment Is A Flash”, was recently featured in the series finale of CTV’s Flashpoint. Fun Fact: Fortress was also featured in the very first episode of the series back in 2008.

Dala : Live at the SOTA Theater

On their recent West Coast Tour, Amanda and Sheila were invited to visit the Tacoma School Of The Arts. Dala performed an intimate show at the SOTA’s black box theater, sharing a handful of songs, stories from touring and advice for up and coming musicians.

Good Morning San Diego!

Today marks the beginning of our 5 week tour through California, New Mexico, Alberta, British Columbia and Washington. Sheila and I spent our first San Diego morning pursuing our individual bliss.

Sheila:
-went for a run on the boardwalk
-spotted a man walking a pot bellied pig

Amanda:
-sat on Mission Beach drinking coffee
-painted the ocean

Something tells me this will be a trip to remember. Gotta go get ready for the show tonight.
