'Girls From The North Country' on WNED this Friday!

Hey Dala fans,

What a wonderful weekend of shows! On Friday we headlined Westfest in Ottawa, in front of an overwhelmingly large crowd of friendly faces. Nothing like a free outdoor show on a Summer’s evening to put people in a good mood:)

From there we drove to the picturesque town of Homer, NY, where we fell in love with the Center For The Arts. During one of our songs, a fire alarm went off at the volunteer fire department across the street. It sounded like that alarm from ‘Lost’ that would go off in the Hatch when someone forgot to type in the numbers. It was hilarious and the audience couldn’t have been better sports about it. We can’t wait to go back to Homer!

Our weekend adventure ended at the Dauphin County Music & Wine Festival on one of the hottest and most humid days we’ve ever experienced. The crowd were in great spirits, camped out on their lawn chairs with wine glasses in hand. It was a very classy way to cap off our weekend.

Just a reminder for everyone who lives in the Buffalo/Toronto area: our PBS Special “Girls From The North Country” will be airing on Friday, June 18th at 11:30 pm on WNED. Here’s the link with more information.

Until next time,
Sheila and Amanda

"Biggest rising stars on the popfolk circuit"

COVER LAY DOWN features Dala in the lead-up to Falcon Ridge Folk Festival

“By all accounts, the Canadian duo is one of the biggest rising stars on the popfolk circuit, one that has been sweeping the major festivals this year, including a mainstage set at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest, and a gig at the WUMB Boston Music Fest just today. But I’ve been eager to see them live for a few years now, ever since I first heard the pair on 2008 Neil Young tribute Cinnamon Girl and I’m just as eager to get my hands on their newest project, a live CD/DVD entitled Girls From The North Country, which features the songs of Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, and others, performed by Dala and equally undersung Canadian girl groups Oh Susanna and Good Lovelies. If you like soaring and sweet two-girl harmonies – and who doesn’t, really – then let this act be the tipping point that gets you on the road this summer.”
